The quest for Vendetta Red continues [Oct. 2nd, 2005|10:17 pm]
Albertson College of Idaho

Houston, we have contact. I sent a message to Zach Davidson (the lead singer of Vendetta Red) concerning a performance at our spring fling. Just as I had despaired of ever getting a response, lo and behold, he sent me a message back! And the news is good: he thanked me for considering his band for our school and expressed definite interest!

So I sent an email to Sunny Davis saying that I have an interested party here and she thanked me for my suggestion and said she'd get back to me with a date for spring fling and a contact number for Zach. (You must know how tempted I am to give him my phone number, but that wouldn't be professional.)

So cross your fingers and hope for the best. But we are a couple steps closer at this point! It's not just a wish, it's a possibility!

[mood |I must be cra-ya-ya-zee!]

Okay, this might be waaaaaaaay out there, but wouldn't it be awesome if we could get Vendetta Red to perform at our Spring Fling? Of course, all ideas seem good when one is falling asleep, but I'm sure the band would be amiable if only I could figure out how to contact them!

staff crisis [Jul. 3rd, 2005|07:26 pm]

If there is anyone hanging around this summer, without a job, consider this:

My camp, Camp Zanika Lache in Washington state, is low on staff. We've had three people leave early in the season, and because of financial constraints, we didn't hire enough counselors at the beginning of the summer, but we need more now. We need at least two or three female counselors, and at least one more male counselor. If you are AT ALL interested in this, please let me know. I'll be at home and checking livejournal through about noon on july 5. I'm not sure what the salary would be - not too much. It's a small camp fire usa camp, and you'd probably be getting around $1000, or slightly less since it won't be for the entire season. Please, please consider this though. The camp fire office number is 800-548-8884 or 509-663-1609.

Hey all! This is your favorite pocket-sized asian. As you can see by my title, I am starting a revolution. If you want details, please send me an email. This is really important to the residents of the dorm in which I live and the future of ACI. Really. So, if you want to be involved (which I'm sure you will) please either send me an email or ask me next time I see you. This will be a great service to all of us. And I'm sorry this is so vague. I can't really spill the details unless in person. Hope to hear from you soon!

I Want My Life Back: A Review of the Opera Susannah [Feb. 3rd, 2005|09:39 pm]
Albertson College of Idaho

drewdamis
Wow, people, I never thought that I could be so bored. While the vocal performances were amazing for the most part, the plot of the opera was a long and drawn out two hours that were unfulfilling and a waste.

That should not stop you from seeing the opera, and the following is only a review of one cast...though most everyone in the Thursday/Saturday cast are in the Friday/Sunday cast, just in a different role.

The wonderful and talented Megan Williams was marvelous, I was actually surprised as I had never heard her sing before. She was refreshing compared to the three women who played the other wives, whom I couldn't even hear. Although her character is a bitch, she sang wonderfully and can project like no one I've seen...perhaps even better than the lead, Kim Peters.

Another great performance was from Tim Saunders, not only did he do wonderfully with his voice performance, he was the best actor there. Kudos.

The most emotion I saw was from the pianist Sean Rogers, who really got into the music he was playing (I'm glad someone did).

Now, having said all this, go see it! The second cast promises to be just a good and you can stand the horrible plot long enough to support these wonderful singers.

Winterfest Sucked [Jan. 30th, 2005|08:43 pm]
Albertson College of Idaho

drewdamis
Not to take away from anything that we could be posting about around campus, but Winterfest sucked.

The bands (The MiGGs and Gatsby's American Dream) were really horrible and the security around the bar was too tight. I left after an hour.

Did anyone else stay longer? Did it pick up?

Drew (drewdamis) suggested a few weeks ago that since Diane Raptosh is on sabbatical this year and there will be no poetry workshop, that we should conduct our own informal workshop. So far there are three of us--is anyone else interested?
