Wow, people, I never thought that I could be so bored. While the vocal performances were amazing for the most part, the plot of the opera was a long and drawn out two hours that were unfulfilling and a waste.|
That should not stop you from seeing the opera, and the following is only a review of one cast...though most everyone in the Thursday/Saturday cast are in the Friday/Sunday cast, just in a different role.
The wonderful and talented Megan Williams was marvelous, I was actually surprised as I had never heard her sing before. She was refreshing compared to the three women who played the other wives, whom I couldn't even hear. Although her character is a bitch, she sang wonderfully and can project like no one I've seen...perhaps even better than the lead, Kim Peters.
Another great performance was from Tim Saunders, not only did he do wonderfully with his voice performance, he was the best actor there. Kudos.
The most emotion I saw was from the pianist Sean Rogers, who really got into the music he was playing (I'm glad someone did).
Now, having said all this, go see it! The second cast promises to be just a good and you can stand the horrible plot long enough to support these wonderful singers.
